The employee deduction for the Washington State Labor & Industries Rate is unique, because the employee contribution is calculated as a rate per hour. The TKT Payroll 3rd Miscellaneous Deduction should be used for deductions that are calculated by a rate times total hours worked ( i.e. Labor and Industries Rate). The deduction can be switched to calculate times hours by selecting "Utilities" on the TKT Payroll Main Menu bar. Click "Settings" and change the 3rd Deduction Title in the lower left corner to "L & I". Check the yellow box below the 3rd Deduction Title. Click the "Save Changes" button. Under state law, one half of both the medical aid rate and supplemental pension assessment may be paid by employee contribution. Each pay period, the withholding amount is calculated by multiplying the payroll deduction rate (found on your Industrial Insurance Rate Notice) times the actual number of hours each employee works. When you setup each new Employee Record, the
employee's payroll deduction rate should be entered in the box to the right of the "L & I Deduction".
The 1st and 4th miscellaneous deductions in 'Settings' can be used for the Washington Cares Fund 0.0058 employee tax, and the Washington Family Leave 0.0092
employee tax. No maximum salary limits can be setup for the miscellaneous deductions.
1. Select 'Utilities' on the TKT Payroll Main Menu bar.
2. Click 'Settings'.
3. In the 'Miscellaneous Payroll Deduction Titles' section, Edit the '1st Deduction Title (6 digits)' to WCares.
4. Edit the '4th Deduction Title (6 digits)' to FLeave.
5. Do not check the non-taxable boxes.
6. Click the 'Save Changes' button.
Next, update each employee record by entering the decimal number 0.0058 in the box to the right of WCares Deduction, and 0.0092 in the box to the right of Fleave Deduction.
